Arlene Tuffree

MIDDLETON-Arlene Tuffree, age 99, passed away on June 12, 2016 at Capitol Lakes, in Madison. She was born on January 27, 1917, in Liscomb, Iowa, the daughter of Nelson and Lydia (Veatch) Fiscus. Arlene was united in marriage to Delmar Tuffree in 1938 and lived in central Iowa until her husband's death in 1982. In 1994 she moved to Middleton where she was active in the Middleton Senior Center and was a recipient of the Middleton Good Neighbor award in 1996, for her volunteer work with Middleton Outreach Ministry. Growing up in Iowa she graduated from American Institute of Business (AIB) in Des Moines, Iowa, where she was a star player on the girl's basketball team in 1935-36. Arlene was an avid golfer and bowler excelling in both. Both Arlene and her husband were devoted to their God and seldom missed church regardless of where they were. Arlene is survived by her children, David (Evelyn) Tuffree and Doug (Linda) Tuffree; four grandchildren, Mike, Michelle, Nikole and Jennifer; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, Delmar, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Altha Fiscus, Floyd Fiscus, Cecil Fiscus, Lawrence Fiscus and Garrett Fiscus. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Birmingham Cemetery, Traer, Iowa. The family would like to thank the staffs of Capitol Lakes and Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. for the respect and compassion they gave Arlene. They would also like to thank all her friends for their prayers and thoughtfulness.
