Obituary
MADISON-J. Joanne Jacobson, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. She was born on Jan. 5, 1931 in Van Wert, Ohio, the daughter of Edward and Bernice (Elledge) Parker. Joanne married Sheldon Jacobson on Sept. 2, 1950, at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Madison. She was a 1949 graduate of Madison East High School. Joanne had many part time jobs, but her family and home was most important to her. She had an avid interest in genealogy and was a life member of the Wisconsin State Genealogy Society and of the Vesterheim (Norwegian-American Genealogical Society). Joanne was also a member of the Wisconsin State Historical Society and Olbrich Botanical Society, as well as enjoying volunteer work with the East Madison Coalition of the Aging. She enjoyed crocheting, cake decorating, rosemaling and calligraphy. Joanne is survived by her children, Larry "Jake" Jacobson of Madison, Nancee Jacobson Gray of Santa Fe, Texas, and Joy Ann Jacobson of Madison; and grandson, Ryan C. Gray of Santa Fe, Texas . She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 42 years, Sheldon; and son, Lance Jacobson. A graveside service will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 705 Femrite Dr., Monona, at noon, on Monday, July 11, 2016. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the loving and compassionate staff at Aster Assisted Living of Cottage Grove for the care given to our mother and family during her time there. Joy, so sorry to hear of Moms passing. She was a wonderful person, and all of us at the Salon really enjoyed seeing her over the years. It was a delight to have her as a client. May she rest in peace.
