Katherine, Hoffmann family, my deepest sympathies to you all. When I think of Wolfgang, I remember a man who was unafraid to speak his mind. A man who was incredibly talented, intelligent, curious and articulate. A man who touched so many lives and so gracefully told their stories through his craft. A man who deeply appreciated the natural world. A man who had a big, big heart. It was an honor to have known him, and through him, to have met you, Katherine. May God bring you comfort and peace.

I had known Wolfgang for nearly three decades, and to his family and close friends I extend my sincerest sympathy. He was among the kindest, gentlest, most thoughtful and generous people I've had the good fortune to meet. His passing leaves a void in many hearts, but thankfully he's now beyond the physical issues that long plagued him. Peace to all who knew and loved him. --Claire Ortwein
