At the Awards Party at theHickory Knoll CDE in 2012 we presented Kirk with a special award. He was a young 85 that day and with Sissy and Rosa, his Haflinger mares, took a big chunk of wood out of one of the obstacles during marathon. He was still very fast with his pair and we gave him a gift basket and the piece of the obstacle as a souvenir of his brisk drive that afternoon. He responded that he planned to be back to Hickory Knoll in 2017 with a four in hand, to celebrate his 90th birthday. We'll celebrate with him next July, about 150 of his friends recalling a great horseman, a great friend. I hope Suzanne will join us. John, Betsy and Therese Freiburger
