Delores (Groff) Clem

MADISON-Delores (Groff) Clem, age 92, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, due to complications related to a stroke. She was born in Marshfield on Jan. 15, 1924, the daughter of John and Anna Dishinger. She was united in marriage to Clarence Groff in 1945. Delores and Clarence moved to Wisconsin Rapids where they raised four children. In the early years of their marriage they ran a diner called the Snack Shack. After closing the diner, Delores worked as a waitress at Wilburn's Supper Club for several years. In 1965, Delores became a Wisconsin Rapids Meter Maid. She continued working for the Police Department for 16 years, retiring with a key to the city. Delores loved crocheting, fishing, cribbage, Wii bowling, and trips to the casinos. But, more than anything, she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church and appreciated all the rides that the church members gave her. Delores is survived by her sons, Gary (Pam), Joseph (Kathy) and William (Kay); daughter-in-law, Sandy; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce; aunt, Lillian; and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence in 2001; son, Richard "Rick"; granddaughter, Debbie; two brothers, John and Conrad; and five sisters, Virginia "Toots", Marion, Jardene, Florence and Grace. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospital or Agrace HospiceCare.
