Helen Louise (Mueller ) Engelhart

MADISON/FITCHBURG-Helen Louise (Mueller) Engelhart, age 101, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016. She was born on Oct. 3, 1915, in Sumpter Township, Sauk County, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Guethlein) Mueller. Helen graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1933. She married Raphael J. Engelhart on Dec. 16, 1943. She was a member of Luther Memorial Church. Helen retired from UW Hospital after 30 years of employment. Helen volunteered for R.S.V.P., South Side Coalition, St. Mary's Care Center, Red Cross and Lutheran Memorial Church. Helen traveled extensively in the United States and overseas. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, gardening and sewing quilts. Helen is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Clyde) Loney of Vacaville, Calif., Marilyn (Michael) Lafferty and Margery (Melvin) Jackson of Madison; step granddaughters, Shalynda and Latonya Jackson; three step great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in April, 1974; grandson, Timothy Lambert in June, 1974; brothers, Edwin, Walter, Arthur and Otto Mueller; sisters, Ella Ott, Selma Ahrensmeyer, Celia Hewitt and Emma Walkow. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
