Barbra J. (Schumann) Evert

MADISON- Barbra Jean (Schumann) Evert, age 78, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on June 3, 1938, in Madison, the daughter of Alfred Jacob and Otela "Tilly" (Nelson) Schumann. Barbra married Dean Lloyd Evert on Dec. 14, 1957, in Madison at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was baptized into the Christian Faith on July 12, 1938, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Barbra attended Madison Lutheran Parochial school, and graduated from Madison East High School in 1956. After high school she worked as a stenographer at Truax field. She then worked side by side with her husband, Dean, building the successful asphalt company-Consolidated Paving. Later she became the office manager of her son's company - Four Lakes Paving - to present day. Barbra's passion was her family. Not a day went by that she wasn't doing for others. She was a devoted wife to Dean, a loving mother to David, Chris and Stacey, and second mother to many others. Everyone who met Barb loved her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a love of laughter. Going to church was a priority and bringing her children and grandchildren up making sure they were educated in the Christian Faith. Barb also enjoyed spending time boating on Lake Mendota with her family, going to plays at The Overture Center, Chicago, and Broadway with her beloved sister Sharon, Dean and the family. Barb and her sister Sharon also enjoyed following the Wisconsin Badger Basketball team, attending booster events and going to tournaments during March Madness. Barb loved to travel. Dean and Barb enjoyed a trip to Paris, Japan, Hawaii, and Lake Tahoe, but her favorite vacations were the annual family trips to Fort Myers Beach, Florida. She always looked forward to her Thursday night bowling league, where she was able to spend time with her sister Sharon, great friends Cita, Mary, and Carol - where there was always lots of laughter and many wonderful memories where made. Barbra is survived by her husband, Dean; children, David (Debbie) Evert, Christopher Evert and Stacey (James) Evert-Olson; grandchildren, Darrick, Dana, David, Carrie, Jacob, Christina, Cassidy and Luke; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Taliyah, Kayli, Paige, David John, Calen Jr., Cashton, Brooklyn and Bently; in-law's, Janet Call and Greg (Diane) Evert; and nieces and nephews, Kim (Scott), Don (Val), Lynn (Brian), Lauri (Michael), Jonathon (Renee), Angela (Reeno) and Melissa (Patrick). She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Otela Schumann; mother and father in-law, John and Gyda (Nordness) Evert; sister, Sharon (Bill) Kozak; sister-in-law, Doris Evert; brother-in-law, Brian Call; and great-grandson, Mason Dalton. Funeral services will be held at ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2126 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 with Pastor Gerry Kuhnke officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church.
