George, I'll never forget your music and how you made me laugh all those nights when I worked at Glen & Ann's! I know that someday when I get to heaven I'll see you wherever there's music and laughter..

What a nice guy, always a smile -- and, a gifted fiddle player -- had the good fortune to play with Smoky George a few times in the late 60s and early 70s -- and spent a great afternoon (20 or more years ago) playing with him and his pal 'Windy' Whitford and listening to the great stories. Heard them at Glen & Anne's & then at Johnny's -- a permanent picture of George in his Viking hat [not the football team] playing the dobro . . .

"Smokey" George- it was an honor and one of the great pleasures of my life to know you and Wendy. What a fine presence and sense of humor you brought to Madison's musical landscape all these many years! Thank you for all you gave.
