Agnes "Aggie" Bram

February 24, 1935 - April 26, 2017

Obituary

MIDDLETON-Agnes "Aggie" Bram (Zander) age 82, was tragically taken from us on April 26th, 2017.  She was born February 24, 1935 in Cross Plains, the daughter of Jacob and Amelia (Bollenbeck) Zander.  Aggie and her husband Richard raised their two children and owned Bram's Bar (now Coach's) on Main Street in Cross Plains for many years.  Then they built their house and moved to Middleton where Aggie worked at and retired from Harbor Athletic Club after 35 years. Aggie had a variety of interests including gardening and tending her yard, cheering on the Badgers and Packers and attending church at Saint Bernard's in Middleton.  She loved swimming and chatting with friends down at Harbor Athletic Club. She always had a deck of cards ready to play a spirited game of Euchre at every family outing and enjoyed playing in her multiple weekly leagues.  What Aggie truly treasured most was the time she spent with her family and many friends.  She was sharp witted, always willing to lend a helping hand and could fix anything you asked her to.  She brought a smile to the face of everyone around her.  She will be deeply missed.  Aggie is survived by her children Rose (Tom) Kelso and Tom (Susan) Bram; siblings, Doris (Jim) Anderson, Mary Diem (Dave) Stauffacher; six grandchildren, Ann (Sarah) Kelso, Tom Kelso, Kelly (Brad) Etter, Casey Kelso, Amanda (Dan) Sonnenburg and Jacob Bram, as well as four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Eli and Adelaide Sonnenburg and John Etter.  In addition to her husband, Richard, Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, Arthur, Albert, Anthony, Roman, James, Arnold, Phillip and two sisters, Dorothy and Julianna as well as her son-in-law, Tom Kelso.  Funeral services will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains at 11 AM on Friday May 5, 2017 with Father Thomas Kelley presiding.  Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass.  Condolences and donations may be sent to Rose Kelso at 6423 South Avenue, Middleton, WI 53562.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I didn't really know Agnes, but I wanted to say my condolences to her family. This is not the way a person should leave this world and especially their family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I worked with Aggie at Harbor for several years -- way back when. She was one of those rare human beings that keeps it real. A quick witted spitfire, always upbeat, deeply caring and with a great sense of humor, she was integral in bringing people together in a positive way. This world has lost a jewel. Sending sincere love and sympathy to Aggie's family. Jill Odegard

Aggie embodied the Middleton claim to fame: being a good neighbor. When I first moved here in 2009, I knew nobody at all,, and was shopping around for good deals on household goods. Aggie's sale was an obvious choice. We bonded instantly over a love of getting cheap deals - -and Aggie pointed out many of Middleton's finer points to me. Our interaction was brief but powerful - - and I got some good deals at the sale. Moreover, I felt I had made my first friend in Middleton. Her sense of hospitality and welcoming attitude stuck in my mind as the very epitome of being a Good Neighbor. So many will miss her for so many more important reasons, but I will miss her as a neighbor....a really good one!

I remember Mrs. Bram from when I was growing up out in Cross Plains and her son Tom was my friend, or classmate, I'm not sure. I am so shocked about this, and I'm so sorry for her kids. The whole family has my deepest sympathies.

Aggie was my life saver for our son Ryan when he needed to be in Kids Care at Harbor. She could settle him like no other. I remember when he got a little older we took her out to Menchies for a treat and it just made both of their days. Ryan just adored her. And we appreciated her mothering nature. Rest in Peace Aggie. And prayers to your family, I am so sorry of the pain and sadness they must be feeling. Andy, Michelle and Ryan Bussen

I worked with Aggie many years ago at Harbor Athletic Club. I enjoyed working with her and doing a few garage sales together. I'm sure she will be missed by many. My deepest sympathy goes out to all her family and friends.
