Obituary
STOUGHTON/MADISON-Collin Reese DaValt, age 31, of Madison, fought a long, brave battle with addiction which ended peacefully when God called him home on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Collin was a wonderful, hard-working, caring person who never wanted his addictions to define him. He loved life and all those he met along the way. He enjoyed cooking, listening to music, playing frisbee, fishing, any/all electronic entertainment, and all things Italian. He loved to help people and became a friend to everyone he met. He was currently an employee of Woodman's East and had previously been a chef in a number of area restaurants. He was the son of Brian and Connie (Roloff) DaValt, and loving brother of Cassandra DaValt. He is survived by his father, Brian (Patricia Collins) DaValt; mother, Connie (Randy Ruchti) DaValt; sister, Cassandra DaValt; grandfather John (Sheila) DaValt; grandmother, Toni Buffenbarger; uncle, Greg (Donna) DaValt; aunt, Cathy Schaefer; extended family, Kelsi, Travis, Harold and Elaine Ruchti; and cat, Pookie. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Margaret Roloff. A Celebration Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017. Collin was a charitable person. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation to your favorite charity in his name, we know that he would have liked that.

Colin was always nice to me for seemingly no reason. I, the younger dorky kid in high school, was so surprised he hung with me. He treated me as an equal and always listended to what I had to say, which can be hard to find growing up. He never held anything against me and tought me to accept people. I grew just knowing Colin and appreciated his friendship. I can only imagine the hurt his family feels, I hope they at least know how much to those he knew.

I was able to watch Colin grow up as he lived two houses away. He was such a smart, kind little boy, Colin spent time babysitting my children and then later in life giving cooking lessons to the ladies in the neighborhood. Colin always had a kind word and smile for everyone he met. Colin will be missed.
