Obituary

MADISON-Burnill W. "Bill" Steele Jr., age 78, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Oct. 14, 1938, in Waukon, Iowa, the son of Burnill and Susan (Lois) Steele. Bill served in the U.S. Navy. He married Marian (Gillitzer) Steele on Feb. 6th, 1960, at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Bill worked as a Postmaster for 24 years. He was very proud of his Irish Heritage and a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church. Bill enjoyed fishing, golfing and above all else, he loved his family. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marian; daughters, Christine (Dave) Iserman, Diane Steele (Anne Brophy) and Julie (Stephen) Peetz; son, Steven (Yoyi) Steele; grandchildren, Adam Iserman (Stephanie Metke), Alyssa Iserman, Lexi and Zach Peetz and William Steele; siblings, Clem (Jane) Steele, Rich (Sheila) Steele, Mary (Gene) Kirschbaum, Mike (JoEllen) Steele, Vince (Sandy) Steele and Dennis (Sharon) Steele; sister in law, Sally Steele; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Peter; and mother-in-law, Carrie Gillitzer. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Dennis Catholic Church or Agrace HospiceCare. Bob Walton here also wife Beth. After we retired Bill and I golfed 3-4 days a week, had so much fun. Bill was a real good golfer and gentleman. His Irish wit was always present..
