Robert "Bobby" L. Rogers
May 22, 1969 - January 08, 2018
Obituary
CROSS PLAINS-Robert L. “Bobby” Rogers, age 48, passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at his home. Bobby was born on May 22, 1969, in Elizabeth City, N.C., the son of Herman and Claire Rogers. Bobby married Tracie L. Trappe on July 15, 2000, at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Cross Plains, Wis.
Bobby battled colon cancer since December 2015. He showed everyone his true grit by working through most of his diagnosis and treatment. Bobby enjoyed working as a carpenter his entire life. Every person who ever worked with him, loved him and appreciated his work ethic. Although Bobby didn’t completely embrace the Wisconsin weather, he embraced the Wisconsin spirit. He fit right in when he moved from Virginia in 1999.
Bobby also loved spending time with his three children. He watched all their sporting events and teased them mercilessly. Each one of them looked forward to spending time with “fun” dad.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 17 years, Tracie; daughters Ella Rose (16) and Jenna Rae (13), and son, Chase Michael (10); his parents; brother, Roy Rogers; sisters, Lisa Rogers and Claire Ahammou; sister-in-law Julie Rogers; father-in-law Gary Trappe; brother-in-law Daniel Trappe (Mary); and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by his incredible friend, Doug Brunner. Doug showed Bobby the true meaning of a best friend. Bobby was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Karen Trappe.
Funeral services will be held at ST. MARTIN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2427 Church St., Cross Plains at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, with the Rev. Jeff Tomberlin presiding. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, and also on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Valley Home Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established at the Monona Bank, 2615 Westview Court, Cross Plains, for donations to the family.
You will forever be in our hearts and minds. We love you.

Best Party I ever hosted was when Bobby and Tracie were moving to Wisconsin from Virginia. My husband being from Milwaukee was "fired up" to treat Bobby to some Brats we had flown in from Wisconsin. Some of our fellow volleyball players had started a band and they played their first "gig" that night in our house. It was a party to remember and the first time we all had to say goodbye to Bobby. We met up again and played together at a few Volleyball National Championships and who could forget Bobby and Tracie's beautiful wedding. Always smiling, joking and spreading the love is how I will always remember Bobby. Goodbye again Bobby and Godspeed to your beautiful soul! See you on the other side!

I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet and get to know Bobby and his entire family over the last 2 years. His and my wife Jenn's cancer journeys began almost simultaneously in December 2015. They became friends and discussed the ups and downs of treatments surgeries and countless medical visits, procedures and drugs. His friendship and mutual support was very important to Jenn as they both seemed to have more disappointment than anyone deserves through this journey. I think we may have actually met them for the first time in the chemo waiting area of the UW hospital , if memory serves me. Our most sincere condolences go out to his family and friends who have lost a great man, but all who knew him are better for it and he will live on in so many good people he touched in life and I hope all find some comfort in this fact. My brother (Doug Brunner) has been someone I have grown to respect increasingly over the years and the last two he has blown me away at the incredible friend he is to so many, especially this special man he loved so much. To Tracie and his wonderful kids, I know that Doug and the community of Cross Plains will assure that although Bobby is no longer with us physically, you will be cared for and watched over by those who knew him.

As a Mother, a bit of my heart will always be with Bobby. He was the best son anybody could ever wish for. As a Husband he cherished the ground Tracie walked on, as a Father he was so loving to Ella, Jenna and Chase. When he was growing up he would work with father as a carpenter and did as much work as he could so his father could rest. His brother and two sisters would tease him about being a picky eater but he found something to tease them about too. Everyone that knew him have been blessed by his kindness towards people. You will be truly missed but never forgoten by your family.

To Tracie, Ella, Jenna & Chase - Our thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone who knew and loved Bobby. We have gotten to know Bobby over the years as we watched our girls, Ella and Lexi grow to the beautiful young women they are today and we were fortunate to shine in Bobby's light and grace. May God provide the comfort that you need at this difficult time.
