Obituary
MADISON- Margaret "Reggie" Heide, age 67, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018. She was born on June 30, 1950, in Hammond, Ind., the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Stackowitz) Eberle. She met Ralph while they worked at Inland Steele in East Chicago, Ind. The two were united in marriage on May 8, 1976, in Dyer, Ind., and happily married for 37 years. Reggie attended Messiah Lutheran Church in Madison and was a long time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in South Holland, Ill. She was a proud Chicago Cubs fan and a crafty greeting card maker. Reggie loved to sew and most of all, loved to cook for her family. Meals by Reggie were extra special, and always shared with warmth and adoration. Reggie taught the love of God to three and four year olds with her best friend, Eleanor, for many years. She enjoyed her most recent 20+ years working with friends at Fannie May Candies in the Chicago area. Ralph was the love of her life. They loved to spend time playing cards, trying new restaurants, and vacationing in Door County, Wis., and Traverse City, Mich. Reggie took loving care of Ralph's health and wellbeing for all their life together. She was whole heartedly devoted and active in her family and friends lives. Everyone who met her felt an instant connection to her loving spirit. Reggie’s unwavering kindness, and humility drew out all the love and good in people. She bravely fought cancer for five years so she could continue to love and create lasting memories with her family and dear friends. Reggie is survived by her three daughters, Judy (Edward) Johnson, Nicole (Cindy Johnson) Heide, and Sarah (Rohan) Black; sister, Linda (Goo) Korba; two brothers, Richard (Mickey) Eberle and Randall Eberle; three grandsons, Randall Johnson, Mikey (Ashli) Johnson and Bryson Black; granddaughter, Heide Black; two great-granddaughters, Elena Johnson and Kaelynn Johnson; many loving nieces, nephews and special friends; and her loving extended family, Charlie and Lore Baier and their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Heide; parents; brother, Eugene Ehinger; grandson, Rohan Black Jr.; and her loving dog, Jack. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 5 p.m., on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Reggie’s name may be made to the family. Donations will be gifted to UW Carbone Cancer Center, Meriter Hospital, Agrace HospiceCare, Messiah Lutheran Church and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at a later date. A special thanks to Sandy, Gail, Daniella, Dr. David Hei, Dr. Catherine James, Dr. Greg Cooley, and many Meriter Hospitalists that devoted their expert care to Reggie. Every day I will remember your smiling face, your awesome memories that you shared (the turtle was the best one), your recipes (food and life) and most importantly the fact that your ability to show love and kindness made me and others a better person. Everyday I shall remember you as a person that change the world by your very existence and the rays of a positive soul and sunshine that projected off of you! No matter where you where at the time, or how you was feeling in the moment you was always so happy and I was thrilled and happy to see you! I understand that in this life you where a gift to all of us, to teach us the true meaning of love and kindness and now you have returned home to rest. Thank you for being my sunshine and a cloudy day! Que dios siempre me lo bendiga! Nicole, I am so sorry for your loss, if there is anything angel and I can do for you please let us know!
