DANE/LODI-Rahn James Ripp, age 48, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, when the UTV he was driving broke through the ice on Lake Wisconsin. He was born on July 13, 1969 to Jerry Ripp and Joycelyn “Tonie” (Karls) Ripp.Rahn worked his entire life on the family farm, Ripp’s Blue Ribbon Dairy. He was an excellent herdsman who took great pride and tireless effort to improve the large herd. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He especially looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Canada. Rahn was always willing to lend a hand and tell a joke. He was loved and will be missed by many.Rahn is survived by his parents, Jerry and Joycelyn; 10 siblings: Joe (Diane), Dean (Deb), Mary Anne Brown, Dale (friend Heidi), Albert (Mary), Jerry “Buddy” (Megan), Larry (Jenny), Jesse (Becky), Hardy (friend Brittany), and Joan (Spencer) McGowan; a multitude of nieces/nephews and great-nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Baby Dean and John.Rahnie, thank you for your kind, accepting smile—we will hold it in our hearts forever. Thank you for showing us to live with no regrets, to be generous and humble, to create our own happiness, and especially, the importance of putting family first. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at BLESSED TRINITY CATHOLIC PARISH AT ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH, 109 S. Military Rd, Dane, Wis., at 12 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018. All are invited to attend the funeral Mass, followed by a luncheon and Celebration of Life; join us when you can to share memories. I want to express my deep sadness of hearing of Rahn’s passing. I remember Rahn from family events and local events. . Although I didn’t get to know Rahn personally, I know the type of Family he comes from. Rahn being a dairy farmer from a large family reminds us of the commitment and love a person has for his family/community.
Tragedy often strikes us suddenly in this fallen world we live in. But the Lord gives us family/friends to sustain us in times of sorrow and loss.
It’s my prayer the Lord gives the Ripp family grace to move forward and draw on Gods strength in this difficult time! I pray the memories of Rahns life gives all an awareness of the gift of life and blessings God pours down on us all everyday and what a blessing it is to be apart of a great farming community.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Rahn You will be missed. We could always count on that brilliant smile first thing in the morning as you wandered down to the dock to catch the sunrise and the very first fish of the day....we are better people for having the opportunity of getting to know you and share in your life.
