I have so many memories because I grew up living next door to Paul until 8th grade. We ended up going to high school together at Madison West also. We explored the neighborhood as well as the woods surrounding his family cottage on Lake Wisconsin. One memory involves Paul, me and his younger brother Fred. We all jumped in the boat the family had one day and headed out to an island on Lake Wisconsin. We were going to explore the island at least it is what Paul told his Mother Grace. As we approached the island Fred got in the bow and jumped out as we landed to pull the boat on shore. At that moment Paul put the motor in reverse and pulled away leaving Fred standing on shore! As we turned around and started motoring towards their cottage we could hear Fred yelling at us. Well as luck would have it Fred’s mom Grace heard him also. As we approached the dock Grace appeared and was pointing us back towards the island. A few choice words were uttered and Paul dutifully returned to the island and picked Fred up. Once back at the dock we got “grounded” from the boat for a day. Pretty tame consequence under the circumstances. We ended up with guns in our hands going hunting in the woods not far from the cottage. That’s another story for another day. Godspeed Paul gonna miss you buddy!!
