Rudolf Walter Link, M.D.

The volunteers, flight team and board of Badger Honor Flight mourn the loss of their hero, Rudolf Link. We are thankful for his military service and proud to have served him on his trip to Washington, D.C. on September 16, 2017.

Please accept my sympathy for your loss. I met Rudy in 1962 when I was in medical school. I later got to know Rudy as a psychiatric colleague when I returned to Madison in 1968. We were good friends and we enjoyed a lively mutual respect. I have missed him since his retirement. Along with Fritz Koenecke, Ed Sheldon and Heinz Vogel, the old masters are leaving us. Rudy had a wonderful smile and I loved seeing him when I worked behind the Reference Desk at the Middleton Public Library. Of course he was also the father of my very best friend, Ramona Link Meher, so I also considered him a kind of alternate father in addition to a friend. He lived a truly remarkable life and will be much missed.
