James Peter Lemberger
September 02, 1955 - March 18, 2019
Obituary
OREGON–James Peter Lemberger was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison on
Sept. 2, 1955, and died there on Monday, March 18, 2019. In his 63 years he was a good dad, son, husband and man. Jim had a big heart that was plain to see with kids and dogs especially. It’s easy to imagine Jim with his folks and his big brother, Tom. Mom and Dad would tell him they were proud of Jim, their youngest, for his epic win over a powerful cancer 10 years ago. All the time he shared with us since is a bonus for Jim and a gift to us. He also loved and cared for his wife of many years, Patti. Jim and his kids, Josh and Nikki, stepped up and provided loving care for Patti since her debilitating stroke four years ago. This family has a great heart and shows it through affection and courage. Jim enjoyed travel with family and had great fun in Europe, California, Arizona, South Carolina and most especially on a cruise set up by his daughter, Nikki and spoke of it often. Jim, Joe, and Mark went on a Chattanooga/Chickamauga battle field Tour in 1990. They traveled easily as pals interested in the same times and places. It was seamless fun except someone snored. Though not everyone claimed to hear it. In the past few years Jim settled in to care for his dogs, Ralphie and Lola. 14-year-old Lola died within hours of Jim. It seems like every time the phone rang, it would set off Ralphie and Lola and they would set off Jim. It was lively. He maintained and enjoyed a happy home and tended to a lovely yard. Papa Jim was gifted with his fourth granddaughter nine months ago. Jim is survived by his daughter, Nikki (Chris) Frutiger of Deerfield, their daughters Triniti, Alexis, Arya and grand dog Comet; his son, Joshua and granddaughter, Anneliese of Oregon; brothers, Joe (Karen) Summerfield Fla. and Mark (Penny), York S.C.; and sister, Therese (Roger), Madison. A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019.
The family respectfully requests that floral memorials not be sent, instead, in the fashion of Jim, please donate to the Dane County Humane Society, from where his beloved Bugsy and Lola; or to the family to help cover Jim's final expenses.
Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
Rest in peace Jim.

I hadn’t seen Jim in many years but I remember growing up, our parents hanging out and spending time with the family. Jim had a great sense of humor and a personality that could fill a room. I am truly saddened by his passing and my parents and I send our deepest condolences to Nikki and Josh and Patti and all of the family.

Josh and Nikki, your Dad was about six months younger than me. Growing up we often seemed to get paired together. The last time I saw Jim was at my Dad’s 90th birthday about four years ago. Considering his bout with cancer, your Mom’s stroke and all the pain and anguish you all suffered over the years, Jim seemed remarkably happy and upbeat. I have a feeling that is the way he left this world. It seems he had all he needed: the love of his family and his pups. May God bless you moving forward.
