Kou Her

MADISON-Kou Her, age 53, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019. He was born on June 18, 1966, the son of Nao Tou Her and Chao Moua. Kou graduated from Madison West High School with the Class of 1986, and then continued his studies and graduated from National Louis University in Chicago in 1990. Kou was united in marriage to Ker Xiong and together they were blessed with three children. Kou worked for almost 29 years at Madison College as an Instructor. He truly enjoyed working with the students and being an influence in their lives. He enjoyed singing, composing songs and had released several albums. Kou shared his talents with others at special events or through church. He was very active within the Hmong Community and worked closely with others to plan the Hmong New Year festivities. Kou enjoyed spending time with his kids, biking, playing at the park and simply being with them. Kou is survived by his wife, Ker Xiong; children, Nigel, Meena and Tavee; sisters, Joua Thao, Bao Kong, Nou (Joua Vang) Xiong and Shoua (Doua X.) Lee; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. On Friday, July 19, 2019, a visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon. A service will follow on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Saturday, July 20, 2019, a visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon. A service will follow on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens on Saturday, July 20, 2019.
