MADISON - Jerome Scott Stueber, age 54, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021. He was born on Feb. 17, 1967, in Wausau, Wis., the son of Jerome and Judith (Drifka) Stueber.
Jerome loved Jesus Christ with his whole heart. He was compassionate, empathetic, outgoing and loved to talk to people.
Jerome loved his family and his nieces and nephews very much. He was a loyal son and loved spending time with his parents, taking them on day road trips and spending time with them in their later years.
Jerome loved singing and was a talented drummer in his younger life. He loved animals and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed visits to parks, fishing, camping, and bonfires. His latest hobby was taking photos of beautiful flowers around the Madison area.
Jerome was always very sensitive and a deep thinker. He had his own personal troubles and dilemmas but always tried his best to stay positive and resilient. His faith grew deeper over the years and he was blessed to have been baptized several years ago, with his sister, Sally, while their sister, Amy, sang, I can only Imagine.
Jerome is survived by his siblings, Susan (Don) Arnold, Sari Schultz, Bryan Stueber, Sally (Rob) Rickerson, Diane (John) Cook, Bruce Stueber, Judy (Craig) Kulhanek, Paul (Tami) Stueber and
Amy Stueber. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Christopher Rickerson.
The world needs to be kinder and more understanding of people with mental illness and addiction. Jerome fought hard for his sobriety over the years. He carried a heavy cross throughout his life. Jerome was was my best friend growing up. We were always going hunting, fishing, biking or getting into trouble together. Some of the more memorable moments were canoeing/fishing out on Lake Monona in the orange Colman canoe, hunting at Mud Lake public hunting area or going to downtown and spending the day running around in the Capital, in the glass building across from the Capital and on State Street. Really sad to hear about Jerry's passing. My condolences to his family. Although I didn't see Jerry much in his later years, we had a lot of good times in our youth. A trip to milwaukee on our motorcycles, going out and playing pinball, nature walks, country cruising in my car listening to tunes. Good memories indeed. -- RIP -- Lee Anderson
