Oregon / MILWAUKEE - Darwin F. Witkowski Jr., age 69, of Oregon, Wis., passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on July 31, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Darwin Sr. and Jeanette (Kiepke) Witkowski. When Darwin was just three years old, his mother passed away. He was blessed to have been raised by his loving stepmother, Eleanore.
Darwin graduated from Pulaski High School in 1969. He married Darlene Stanislawski on Sept. 18, 1982, in Milwaukee. Prior to retirement, he enjoyed a career as a store manager for Kohl’s Food Stores and ExxonMobil.
In his free time, he loved playing golf, bowling, and gambling, and often volunteered at golf tournaments. He loved driving spacious cars, enjoyed going out to eat, especially at Capri di Nuovo, Ned’s Pizza and Leon’s Frozen Custard, and loved having a neatly manicured lawn. Darwin especially loved spending time with his family.
Darwin is survived by his wife of 38 years, Darlene; son, John; aunt, uncle, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Darwin Sr.; mother, Jeanette; stepmother, Eleanore; and sister, Pamela Witkowski.
A celebration of life will be held at ENCHANTED FOREST EVENT CENTER, 3555 S. 13th St., Milwaukee, from 12 noon until 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021. Darwin has been a steadfast classy and dignified presence next door. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Darlene and John, who are mourning the loss of their spouse and father. Darwin will be missed by all of us, including our foster-to-adopt chocolate lab, Ben, who liked to entertain Darwin with his shenanigans of catching snow thrown from the snowblower or "beating " Darlene with his tail, as he enthusiastically greeted both of them.
