Obituary

MADISON - Raymond “Ray” Earl Geen of Madison, Wis., died on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, at Stoughton Meadows, in Stoughton. Ray was born in Ironwood, Mich., on Aug. 15, 1933, to John and Ruth Hoskins Geen. Ray served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1956 to 1958. He met Virginia Ruth Weimer in Chicago, Ill., at the Salvation Army Officers Training College, and they were married on July 2, 1957. Ray was a member of AmVet Post 0151 and a lifelong member of the Salvation Army. He worked at Winnebago State Hospital in Oshkosh, before moving to Madison, where he worked at the UW Hospital and Clinics for over 30 years. Ray loved to sing, make friendships while camping, and spend time with his family and friends.

Ray is survived by his wife, Virginia; four children, Kenneth (Julie) Geen, Paul (Jullie) Geen, Douglas Geen, and Virginia Geen; four grandchildren, Kevin (Samantha) Geen, Michelle Geen (fiancé DJ Carson), Jennifer Kohls (Stacey Tropp), and Lacey Santos; four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jameson, Everett, and Emersyn; sisters-in-law, Linda Geen and Mary Ann Garvine; brother-in-law, Willard (Jeanie) Weimer; and many nieces and nephews. Ray is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack Geen, Albert Geen, Jim Geen and Reggie Geen; and sister, Ruth Jelliffe.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice and especially nurses, Lori and Amy, for all the help they provided to Ray and his family during this time.
