Ervin James Meister, Jr.

Brooklyn - Ervin James Meister, age 93, of Brooklyn, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Stoughton Health. He was born on April 22, 1929, in Middleton, Wis., the son of Ervin Meister and Dorothy (Connor) Meister.

Ervin served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, stationed in Alaska. He was a longtime member of the American Legion. He married Gladys Clemetson Meister on Dec. 4, 1954, in Stoughton. Ervin loved farming and raising animals. He worked as a mechanic for Lappley’s in Oregon and after that he spent 22 years as a custodian for the Oregon-Brooklyn School District until his retirement. Dad and mom loved to travel and spend time with friends. They also enjoyed dancing and playing cards.

Ervin is survived by his wife Gladys; son, Marc (Stephenie) Meister; grandchildren, Dianna, Bradley, Danielle (Jessie) Salinas, Alexi (Dan) O'Sullivan and Travis (Hanna Mack) Meister; great-grandchildren, Brayden Anderson, Grace Bradley, Rylie Bradley, Jon Salinas, Jaxon Salinas, Yessenia Salinas and Adalynn O'Sullivan; brothers, Marvin (Donna) and Dean; sister, Ramona (Ted) Feller; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sheri; brothers, Donald and Edwin; sisters-in-law, Eileen and Gail; and nephew, Patrick.

Thanks to the Stoughton Hospital staff, Agrace staff and Magnolia Gardens staff at Skaalen who cared for Dad the last few months.

A funeral service will be held at Gunderson Oregon Funeral AND Cremation Care, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 12 noon on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Burial will be at Graves Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
