Obituary
FITCHBURG - Pam (Stoffel) Steffen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born to Lambert and Patricia Stoffel and raised in Madison, Wis. First and foremost, Pam was a loving wife to Mike, adoring and devoted mother to Corrine, and loyal sister to Judy and Mary. She made friends easily and sustained long-lasting friendships with many.
Pam was good storyteller, recounting many a humorous misadventure from her youth. She was creative and had many talents and interests. Pam was a 30-year veteran of Sievers School of Fiber Arts where she learned the art of basketry, weaving baskets that are truly works of art. She had a core group of “Sievers friends” that met each year for a weekend of good food, laughter and sometimes they got around to weaving.
Pam had discerning and eclectic tastes when it came to decorating and maintaining her beautiful home. She and her husband, Mike, shared a love of cooking and entertaining, bringing a great many family and friends together for occasions large and small. They were members of a neighborhood gourmet group, gathering to share in a variety of delicious culinary creations, good wine and neighborly banter.
Pam and Mike enjoyed many hours tending to the bountiful flower and vegetable gardens around their home. They also enjoyed traveling together, recently taking a memorable trip to Italy in 2019 with her sister, Judy, and brother-in-law, Mike. Pam was also a volunteer with Special Olympics of Wisconsin and Agrace HospiceCare, a past leader and Community Chair for the Verona/Fitchburg Girl Scouts. She also enjoyed playing golf and pickle ball.
Taken from us too soon, Pam will be dearly missed by her husband, Mike, of 44 years; her daughter, Corrine; sisters, Judy (Mike) Dukatz and Mary (Chuck) Corbett; nieces and nephews, Jack, Tom, Kelly and Sam; along with many extended family members.
We will remember Pam’s smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family and friends. We take comfort knowing that Pam has eternally joined her parents, Lambert and Patricia Stoffel. Pam encouraged those that knew her to: not give up, not to wait to try something new, keep moving forward and especially, to have a good network of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Steffen family, which will go towards a dedication in Pam’s name at Sievers School of Fiber Arts, or donations may be made to the Special Olympics of Wisconsin.
The family will hold a private ceremony and interment. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
