MADISON - Janet Carol "Jan" Ziegler, age 85, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on Feb. 5, 1937, in Madison, the daughter of David and Belva (Kubly) Bowes. Jan graduated from Madison East High School in 1956. She married Vernon Ziegler on July 5, 1974, in Madison followed by a honeymoon in Hawaii.
Jan was a devoted mother, always taking care of family first. After family grew up, she worked as a bookkeeper for WEA Credit Union for 20 plus years, where she retired. She enjoyed cheering on the Packers and Badgers, playing golf, and collecting antiques and stamps. She was blessed to attend two Packers Super Bowls and Badgers Rose Bowls. One of her favorite debates was who was the better Packers quarterback - Favre or Rodgers?
Jan is survived by her son, Mark (Roberta) Nelson; daughter, Marie Nelson; grandchildren, Mason Nelson and Hayley (Chris) Culver; great-grandchildren, Madysen and Ava Nelson and Scarlett Culver; brother, Donald (Karen) Bowes; sister, Ruth (Ralph) Donkle; stepdaughter, Lynn Ziegler; stepson, Bill Ziegler; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Vernon Ziegler.
Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the start of the service on Thursday.
