Jay was a legend in my eyes. The life of the party. I learned so much from him. So glad I was able to be a part of his short life. - Sara

Oh, my, what a shock. My oldest friend in Madison, 42 years, how we both ended up in Stoughton, I'll never know. I always looked forward to the days Jay and Jim would appear at the Flower Factory. And running into them at St. Vinnies was always magical. Requiescas in pace, mi amice. Gale.

Try as he might, Jay never could teach me the difference between hedgehog's & foxes, if you know then you know. I took every class I could with him because he was the best lecture on campus. I learned a lot from him & will miss him tons! He gave me the two greatest compliments a professor can give. First, he allowed me into a 300 level class as a freshman, History. 341, American Foreign Policy. Next, as a senior I needed a 100 level European History & upon seeing me he said, "What the hell are you doing in here, teaching the class?" I'll never forget that moment in a sea of confused freshmen!
