Zemirah "Zemi" Somin Sung

MONONA - Zemirah “Zemi” Somin Sung, the daughter of Charis Boersma and Isaac Sung, was born on March 10, 2023. She was perfect, every finger, every toe, every hair. She was too perfect for this broken world, and she only stayed a few days, leaving on March 14, 2023. The depths of her family’s sorrow and grief are only surpassed by their love. They thought that the light had gone out in the world, but now they realize her glow remains, as does the bright shining light of her sister, Adena.

Zemirah means “joyful song” or “joyous melody” and Somin means “brilliant laughter.” Even after spending only a few days with her, everyone who met her knows that Zemi’s name is a perfect description of who she was. This truth will remain forever and always.

Zemi, you are loved now, more than words could ever express, and you always will be.

Zemi’s body was buried at Natural Path Sanctuary, a green cemetery in Verona. In lieu of flowers, Zemi’s family requests donations be made to Music Avenue (www.musicavenue.org), an early childhood music education non-profit founded by her parents.
