Obituary
MADISON - Stanley Miezio, age 87, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023. He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., to Stanley and Alice (Jasicki) Miezio on June 7, 1935. The family grew to include three daughters: MaryAnne, Kathleen and Wandy. His father wanted him to become a plumber so he would always be sure of an income; but his mother secretly made sure he took college prep classes in high school. After high school Stan attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated from the School of Medicine.
He wanted to see a bit more of the world, so he completed a medical internship at St. Luke's Hospital in New York City. It was there he met his wife, Peggy Muller (now Lewis). He returned to Madison to serve as a resident in Psychiatry. Stanley opened his practice in Madison in 1966, joining Madison Psychiatric Associates. He enjoyed a long and productive career as a psychiatrist.
Outside of medicine and psychiatry, Stan had a life-long passion for travel, music, art, food and wine. Later he added the growing of orchids and bonsai to his activities. In his retirement years he was able to travel to many parts of the world.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, MaryAnne Miezio McGreevy. He is survived by his sisters, Kathleen Miezio and Wandy Chapman; two children, Karen (Michael) Krebs and Dana (Peter) Gass; two grandchildren, Daniel (Julia) Krebs and Susanna (Dillon) Rudy; and one great-grandchild, Noah Michael Krebs. He also had a large circle of extended relatives and special friends whom he dearly loved.
