Obituary

Stoughton - Delmar Carl “Del” Friedrichs Sr., age 92, of Stoughton, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Skaalen Nursing and Rehab. He was born on Feb. 14, 1931, in Doland, S.D., the son of Fred and Alice (Frehner) Friedrichs.


Del grew up in South Dakota, Illinois and Wisconsin. He married Bernice Huber in 1953 in Monroe, Wis. He moved his family to Madison, Wis., in 1966 where he owned the Northgate Laundry for a number of years.  After leaving Northgate Laundry he worked for United Linen and Laundry Services as a floor supervisor until he retired.


Del and Bernice were members of the Goldwing Road Riders Association. They traveled to all 50 states and Canada mostly by motorcycle or 5th wheel. He also enjoyed painting landscapes, woodworking on small projects, flower gardening and doing activities with his family. He was a member of Good Shepherd by the Lake Lutheran Church in Stoughton.


Del is survived by his daughters, Kristine Mistlebauer, Lora Friedrichs, Delnice (Randy) Hill and Beth (Sergio) Mireles; son, Delmar Friedrichs Jr.; sister-in-law, Shirley Friedrichs; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice; his wife, Bernice; son-in-law, Scott Mistlebauer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter Friedrichs, Milo (Frances) Friedrichs, Milton Friedrichs, Dalen (Leona) Friedrichs and Vernon (Nancy) Friedrichs.


A memorial service will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD BY THE LAKE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1860 US Highway 51, Stoughton, at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, with Pastor Todd McVey presiding. Family and friends who wish to view services via LIVE STREAM, may visit Delmar’s obituary page at www.gundersonfh.com and click on the Live Webcast Link at 12:30 p.m. A light meal and reminiscing about Del will follow. A visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

My Great Uncle Delmar will by sorely missed. I can remember visiting him and Aunt Bernice in their beautiful home when our family would travel to Wisconsin in the summers. They both showed us so much love and their home was filled with happiness. -Jessica Everts Vernon Friedrichs' granddaughter

I would like to send the family of Delmar, my deepest sympathies. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I remember going to visit Delmar on Sunday afternoons at the laundromat. We would sometimes go out to the house for a meal to see the rest of the family. Family was very important to each one of the Friedrichs brothers.
