MADISON - James Douglas “Jim” Smith Sr., age 71, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at home. He was born on Sept. 22, 1951, in Madison, the son of Leslie and Lucille Grace (King) Smith.
Jim was married on Nov. 6, 1981, to Lora Cork. He worked for Rayovac and retired in the late 1990s. He was an avid lover of baseball, regularly cheering on the Brewers and also enjoyed the Badgers and Packers.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lora of Madison; sons, Robert Smith and James Smith Jr.; mother, Lucy Smith; brother, Phillip Smith; three grandchildren, Cody, Raene and Caylynn; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; and older brother, Michael Smith.
A celebration of life will be held at the AMERICAN LEGION POST NO. 481, 5337 River Road, Waunakee, from 12 noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023.
