David B. "Dave" Geitner, Jr.

STOUGHTON - David B. “Dave” Geitner, Jr., age 37, of Stoughton, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024.

Dave was born on Oct. 30, 1986, in Green Bay, Wis., to David Sr. and Lori (Ferron) Geitner. They lived in Door County where he attended Sevastopol High School and graduated in 2005. Dave attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wis., where he played football, sang in the collegiate choir, and met many friends that he considered family.

After leaving Lakeland College, he attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical College where he met his future wife, Samantha Nealey. They were united in marriage on May 21, 2011, in Green Bay, Wis. Dave made it a point to tell everyone he met that the greatest love of his life was his wife of almost 14 years.

Dave worked for Eillien’s Candies in Green Bay for several years. When Dave and Sam moved to Stoughton, he worked for Stoughton Trailers as a forklift operator. He continued to work there until his passing.

Dave was an avid video game player, and would spend hours playing with his wife and friends. A couple of his favorite games were MLB The Show, Madden, and The Uncharted Series. He was also a passionate Wisconsin sports fan, with the Milwaukee Brewers being one of his favorite teams. Every year, he and his wife would make it an anniversary tradition of going to a Brewers game. Dave was a movie enthusiast and loved watching a variety of genres of films. From Disney to action to comedy, he would watch anything, and enjoyed it more when watching the movies with his wife and friends. One thing that brought him the greatest joy was spending time with Sam and their dog, Sarge.

Dave was always the first to crack a joke and reach out to someone he knew was hurting. His hugs made everyone felt safe, his smile and laughter were contagious, and if he was your friend, he was a friend for life. Some of his favorite things to do was listening to Brewers games with Sam, having drinks, cigars, and good conversation with Cory, family dinners, and Nerf gun fights with Chris, Ashley, and Avery.

Dave is survived by his wife, Samantha; father, David (Penny) Geitner Sr.; sister, Kendra Geitner; stepsister, Emma Geitner; stepbrother, Joe Davis; in-laws, Brice and Cindy Nealey; sister-in-law, Bambi (Brent) Williamson; niece, Ava “Beans” Williamson; nephew, Vinny Williamson; maternal grandmother, Mary Ferron; maternal grandmother-in-law, Marion Walker; paternal grandmother-in-law, Darlene Linsmeyer; best friend, Cory Furst; close friends Chris and Ashley Huggett, and their daughter, Avery; Melissa and Donovan Nickel, and their three children, Alex, Daniel, and Nora; Sandy Sternitzky; and Bridget Johnston; and beloved dog, Sarge. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, friends, and also his dear coworkers from Eillien’s Candies and Stoughton Trailers.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Lori Geitner; and his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Helen Geitner.

Dave’s wife Samantha would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Stoughton Police Department and all the first responders for their kindness and care they showed her.

A memorial service will be held at ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON PARISH, 2771 Oakwood Drive, Green Bay, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, with refreshments and conversation to follow in the church basement. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, March 9, 2024. The family requests all attending wear Wisconsin sports apparel or casual dress. That was what Dave had always wanted.

In lieu of flowers, a donation made to the Brown County Humane Society Society (Wisconsin Humane Society - Green Bay Campus) in memory of David Geitner Jr. would be appreciated by the family. That is where Dave and Sam adopted their beloved dog Sarge from.
