Genevieve Fern (Mickelson) Miller

STOUGHTON - Genevieve Fern “Gen” (Mickelson) Miller, age 96, passed away on Feb. 7, 2024. She was born on April 17, 1927, the daughter of Thomas and Alma Mickelson (Christianson) and stepdaughter to Charles Junius.

Gen married Donald C. Miller on July 10, 1948. They celebrated 75 years of marriage on July 10, 2023. Gen enjoyed life to the fullest and was an avid gardener and seamstress - she made three of her daughter’s wedding gowns. She also enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards with her card club and biking on a bicycle built for two.

Gen worked at Oregon Senior High cafeteria. She was a member of Covenant Lutheran in Stoughton. Upon retirement she and Donald traveled internationally to Norway and Spain to name a few - and on many bus trips here in the states. Don and Gen were very active and loved visiting with family.

Gen was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather; seven sisters and their husbands, Lillian (Olin) Bystol, Bernice (Alvin) Thompson, Marcella (Ralph) Peterson, Violet (Walter) Kahl, Violet’s infant twin sister, Darlene (John) Strassman, and Jeanette (John) Richard.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; four daughters, Sandra Miller (Jim Connell), Barbara (Louis) Smith, Shirley (Patrick) Connor and Jacqueline (Rick) McDonough; one son, Timothy Miller; sister, Kathleen (Donald) Gordon; 12 grandchildren, Darcy Himes, Christopher Himes (Mae), Aaron Smith, Nathan Smith (Carrie), Caitlin (Josh) Ferber, Adam (Stephanie) Connor, Jordan (Gina) Connor, Ashley Cline ( Tim Hanson), Jason McDonough, Dillon McDonough (Alex Huff), Blake Miller and Kylie Miller; nine great-grandchildren, Lyric Himes, Roman Himes, Rhianon Himes, Hannah Connor, Jack Connor, Ivy Connor, Lydia Connor, Aris Fugate, Cole Cline and baby Ascher due in March; and many other relatives.

A private service will be held at a later date.
