Obituary
MIDDLETON / WAUNAKEE - Andrea “Annie” (Nugent) Campos, age 76, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, with her family by her side, after battling many health issues over the last few years.
Annie was born on May 4, 1947, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Andrew and Concetta (Rosselli) Nugent. She grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she married her high school sweetheart, Andrew “Andy” Campos, on Sept. 7, 1966. Their family grew to include three children and two grandchildren.
Annie worked at Humana Insurance Company for 20+ years, eventually retiring in 2012. She was an avid quilter, and always relied on Andy’s engineering skills to help her figure out the proper angles and patterns.
Annie was a “social butterfly” and loved playing Bingo and Scrabble with her dear friends at Cannery Row. Coffee and donuts on Thursday mornings and an occasional pot luck dinner were some of her favorite times. She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, where she rarely missed a game, and Friday Night Fish Frys at Cimaroli’s. Annie learned her amazing cooking skills from her Italian mother and got her feisty spirit from her Irish father. Most of all, Annie loved spending time and traveling with her husband, the love of her life, meeting when they were just 14 years old. We will greatly miss her kind and compassionate spirit. She loved helping people and was always there for her friends and family whenever needed.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Andy; her parents, Andrew and “Kitty;” her oldest brother, Carl, and his two daughters, Marilyn and Carolanne; and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her children, Kevin of Middleton, Wis., Cristina of Atlanta, Ga., and Janine (Luis) of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Jonathan (Debbie), Dominic and Leo (Eloá), who was like a grandson to her; brother, Monsignor. Joseph Nugent, who later passed away on April 15, 2024; and many special life-long friends going back to grade-school days in Brooklyn. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, brothers/sisters-in-law, many dear friends, and grand-dogs, Bella, Stella, Louie, Cocoa, Yeti, Pippa and Wednesday.
A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, with a luncheon to follow.
