Pierre D. La Plante

I grew up playing his music in school bands. When I taught band in the public schools, I always appreciated how his wonderful his compositions were. I was honored to play alongside him in the Madison Wind Ensemble.

I had a very unique connection to Mr LaPlante. I moved to Blanchardville in 5th grade and Mr LaPlante was my general music and band director. Music was my favorite class. Then as a middle school and high school student I was introduced to his beautiful and amazing compositions. Then, becoming a band director myself I was fortunate enough to share his music with my students. In sharing with my students that Mr LaPlante was my teacher they couldn’t believe I actually knew the composer!! Mr LaPlante touched many lives and left a lasting impression with us all. He will sincerely be missed. I am a better person for have had knowing him. Sincerely, Laurel Meuth (Jim Meuth’s daugther)

In the Oregon Community Band, we frequently play one of Mr. LaPlante's compositions named "Prospect". One year, he directed us while we played his composition. I was honored to perform under his direction! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Thank you, Mr. LaPlante for all the beautiful music you've brought to our community and beyond! -Misty Johnson
