Obituary

Madison - Robert Wendell Shank Sr. passed away peacefully at Meriter Hospital in Madison on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Bob was active in the Monona Senior Center and had lived at Oak Park Assisted Living until his passing. He will be remembered for his charitable donations, his interest in model trains, and his devotion to the Christian faith.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemarie (Robinson) Shank; and his parents, Stanton and Thelma Shank of Quincy, Pa. He is survived by his three sons, Robert Jr., and twins Michael and Christopher (Becky); his grandchildren, Spencer Shank, Liam Chapman, Henry Chapman, Kayleen Martin (Taylor) and Cain Acheson; as well as one great-grandchild, Mia.


Bob’s wish was to be cremated and the family will have a private service at a later time. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his honor to the Kamala Harris presidential campaign. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Always looked forward to seeing Bob at oak park...he was social, inviting, and had a special place for my dog 'coal'. My mother spoke fondly of Bob and always made sure I took Coal to visit. Appreciated how Bob helped with the residents and lead prayer group. Missing him as time goes by... ~ Pat St. John family
