Nick (James Nicholas) Van Driel

Nick was one of my favorite human beings. He was kind, generous, insightful, and a Renaissance man if ever one existed. I will miss him dearly. My heart has so many more words than this, but my head can't find words to do it justice. My condolences to everyone that loved him.

Nick was a blessing to all who knew him. He was a role model in many, many ways. He was a good man.

Nick was a US Geological Survey colleague and friend for whom I had the highest personal and professional regard. I envied his great enthusiasm for everything outdoors and enjoyed his mellow sense of humor. My heart goes out to Dee and family for their loss. Ray Byrnes

I worked for Nick for a time at USGS Reston back in the '80s. He was a truly nice person, and I value my memories of our time together.

Nick was the type of person who always wanted to help out and lend a hand. He was very artistic and insightful. I lived next to him and was avid in archery along with him. He gave me all sorts of ideas and suggestions when I was just starting out. I have such great memories of Nick and his "dry" sense of humor :-) made talking with him so enjoyable. He helped my daughter saw her pinewood derby car when she was 8 years old, that is a great memory. RIP Nick.
