MADISON - Guanita “Gebs/Nit/Gen” Haynes, who was known for her loving and caring nature, passed away on December 13, 2024, in Madison, Wisconsin, at the age of 59. She was born on July 20, 1965, to her parents, Carol Haynes-Woods and Mack Collins.
Throughout her life, Guanita touched the lives of many in her community. She pursued a passion for helping others by working as a Health Fair Advocate at Komed Health Clinic in Chicago in the 90s, and later as she continued to climb her career ladder, she was known for her position as a Civilian Clerk for the Chicago Police Department 2nd District. Her dedication to educating her community about their health and well-being made a lasting impact on all of those who knew her.
Guanita's, warm and affectionate smile was a constant source of joy for her family, friends, and everyone she encountered. She will be remembered for her compassionate, loving, kind spirit, her special crafts at family gatherings and her witty sense of humor. Her attentiveness to all that she truly loved will be truly missed along with her ability to create memories with her kids and grandkids that could be cherished for a lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol; father, Mack; sister, Andrea; grandmother, Bertha; and grandfather, Robert. Guanita leaves to cherish her memory her children, Nika Porter, Orrin Hunt-Haynes, Latifah Hunt-Haynes and Bryant Hunt-Haynes; a host of special grandchildren, aunts, cousins, and extended friends. Guanita had a special bond with all her cousins, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
A private cremation service will be held at Gunderson Funeral and Cremation Care. The family of Guanita Haynes would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers and acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time.
