Obituary
MIDDLETON - Larry “Oscar” Ostermeyer, age 76, of Middleton, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025. He was born on June 13, 1948, in Richland Center, the son of Fred and Freda (Richards) Ostermeyer.
Larry graduated from Middleton High School in 1966 before going on to earn an associate’s degree from MATC in 1968. He met Veronica Montalto in March of 1970, and they were married on April 30, 1977, in Madison.
Larry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. He was a member of the American Division Chu Lai 1 Corp, the 14th Combat Aviation Battalion and the 176 Assault Helicopter Company 69-70 3/23/70. After leaving the military, Larry worked as a bartender at Oakcrest Tavern for 47 years, retiring in 2020.
Larry loved to fish and hunt and was an avid Trap and Skeet shooter. He loved a good game of softball and was a member of several archery teams.
Larry is survived by his wife, Veronica; sister, Rita (Bill) Meier; mother-in-law, Jeanette Montalto; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear friends and former co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Freda; sisters, Connie Engsberg-Denruiter and Sandy Ostermeyer; and father-in-law, John Montalto.
A celebration of life will be held at MIDDLETON SPORT BOWL, 6815 University Ave., Middleton, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025. Military Honors will be held at the bowling alley at 2 p.m. on Friday.
