MADISON - Russell Keith Menendez Sr., age 68, passed away unexpectedly at his residence due to heart disease on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. He was born on September 14, 1956, in Tampa, Fla., the son of Bill and Bea.
Russell graduated from La Follette High School in 1975 where he met his future wife, Carolynn Lowry. They married in 1978, welcomed two sons and raised them in Madison.
Russell was a machinist in the manufacturing industry. He learned the trade through his time at Madison Kipp and QMI. He worked hard providing for his family until his retirement at age 60, from Springfield Industries Inc. Russ enjoyed eight years of retirement where he would spend his time as an outdoor sportsman, fixing things around the house, napping and listening to loud music. At times this would prompt the neighbor to stop in and ask him to lower the volume.
Russ is survived by his wife, Carolynn; sons, Russ Jr. (Tiffany) and Nick Menendez; grandchildren, Abbegail and Joshua Menendez; siblings, Susan (Ken), Shorty (Linda), Juanita, Becky (David); and sister-in-law, Maureen. He is also survived by other relatives and friends too many to name. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father in-law, Keith and Marge Lowry; siblings, Jose and Kaylynn; and three nephews and one niece.
Russ always said he would like to pass away in his sleep. On the day of his passing, he laid down for a nap that he did not wake from. He would often jokingly say that he wanted his gravestone to say, “I told you I didn’t feel good.”

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and private services were held. You are already missed, and we love you.
