Obituary
COTTAGE GROVE - It is with heavy hearts that we share, Dr. Kami Hansen, 41, of Cottage Grove, passed away Monday evening, April 28, 2025. Kami was taken from this world after being struck by a vehicle while on a walk with her family.
Kami was born on July 30, 1983, to Steven and Loretta (Bailey) Connor. She grew up on a small dairy farm out in the country and attended the New Lisbon School District, graduating in 2001. She was active in 4-H, sports, forensics, band, choir and much more. She received an undergraduate degree in biology at UW-La Crosse and went on to pursue a Ph.D. in chiropractic care at Palmer School of Chiropractic in Iowa. On October 27, 2007, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Paul Hansen.
Kami was wholeheartedly involved in every aspect of her life. She valued her role as a wife and mother above all else; her family was her priority. And not just the family under her roof, but her siblings, parents, in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was a devoted chiropractor and viewed her patients as much more than just clients. Every person that walked into her clinic was met with genuine love and compassion while in her care. She was also an influential member of her community; actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce, Optimist Club, and many other community activities. She was an active member of Abiding Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove and had a strong Christian faith.
Although Kami would never admit it, she was very creative and artistic. She would make beautiful, intricate cakes for every birthday in her home. Kami also enjoyed taking on responsibilities and was a leader through and through.
Kami found time to enjoy her hobbies. She had beautiful flower gardens and handmade decorations around her home. She and her family also went hiking and camping often and recently purchased some lake land in Rhinelander as a serene place to unwind and be together in God’s nature. Her Facebook page was peppered with beautiful moments captured of the people and things she loved most. Kami always had a bright smile for people. She was a wonderful friend and supported everyone she knew. She had a heart of gold that was cherished by everyone.
Kami was a beloved wife, remarkable mother, dear daughter, loving sister and sweet aunt. They say God takes the good ones first, we wish He had let her stay longer.
Kami is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Paul Hansen; children, Hunter, Riley and Dylan; mother, Loretta (Bailey) Connor; siblings, Michael (Anna) of Vienna, Austria, Renee (Jay) Woinarowicz of Apache Junction, Ariz., Stephanie (Dan) Couey of New Glarus, Wis., and Sami Connor of New Lisbon, Wis.; parents-in-law, Gary and Kristie (Voss) Hansen of New Lisbon, Wis.; brothers-in-law, Wayne and Sarah (Kinsman) Hansen of Lodi, Wis., and Brad and Cassie (Jasinski) Hansen of Mauston, Wis.; as well as her cherished nieces and nephews, Madalyn (Jarrett), Genevieve, Crimson, Carter, Chase, Ellie, Connor, Jack, Sarah, Aaron, Myles, Chloe and soon to arrive, Baby Emma. She was preceded in death by her father, Steven Connor; and grandparents, Myles and Joani Connor, and Raymond and Joan Bailey.
