OREGON - Steve D’Orazio, age 66, of Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, while out in nature doing what he loved. He was born on February 7, 1959, in Madison, the son of Rudolph and Betty (Powell) D’Orazio.

Steve graduated from Middleton High School in 1978. He married Donna Krogman on May 10, 1980, in Janesville and had just celebrated 45 years together. Together they raised three children. He owned and operated D’Orazio Cleaning Supply, Max Creek Outdoors and Bobwhite’s of Wisconsin. Everyone who knew Steve knew he took great pride in his work and, over the years, formed lasting relationships with his customers and employees.

Steve was a very passionate bird hunter and greatly enjoyed trips to South Dakota and Kansas, places which he deemed to be Heaven on Earth. He looked forward to the annual Thanksgiving pheasant hunt with family each year. He was a member of the Oregon Sportsman’s Club for over 20 years and served as the president since 2006. He was an advocate for improving gun safety, and he was a teacher of firearms safety to medical students, which garnered him national recognition.

He recently started Bobwhites of Wisconsin in 2023. He loved his time in his tractor creating habitat and growing the quail population. His ultimate passion was his grandchildren. His love for them ran deep.

Steven is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Carmen (Justin) Johanning, Jenny (TJ) Nereng and Sean (Julie) D’Orazio; granddaughters, Allie, Nora, Reese and Rylee; grandson, Rudy; siblings, John D’Orazio, David D’Orazio, Julie (Mark) Kading, Sue (Terry) Buechner, Joe (Jenny) D’Orazio and Tina D’Orazio; mother-in-law, Maxine Krogman; Rick (Stacey) Krogman, Bob (Pam Couger) Krogman, Chuck (Teia) Krogman, Dean (Sarena) Krogman and Rhonda Krogman. He is further survived by his beloved brittany spaniels, Tate and Chance; along with his 5,000 quail he was so proud of.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Rudy; father-in-law, Richard Krogman; and his sister’s fiancé, Ron Stocks.

A celebration of life will be held at the OREGON SPORTSMAN’S CLUB, 1726 Sand Hill Road, Oregon, Wis., from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday June 6, 2025. The family asks that you please honor Steve by enjoying the peace of nature and listening for the whistle of the quail.
