DEERFIELD, Wis. - Mark Scott “Marko” Manning Jr., age 22, of Deerfield, Wis., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family and caregivers, on Friday, June 27, 2025. He was born on February 2, 2003, in Madison, the son of Mark and Fredricka (Shakespeare) Manning. Given just one hour to live at birth, he fought valiantly to be with us for 22 years and with his bravery and resilience, showed us all how to live an admirable life.
Marko attended Deerfield schools and graduated from the Wisconsin School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Janesville in 2024. Marko loved riding his horse, Rodney, at SMILES. He also enjoyed bowling, going for walks, and being spun in his wheelchair. Marko was a loveable son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend to so many. He had a contagious smile that lit up the universe!
Marko is survived by his parents; brothers, Francis "Frank" Manning (Laura Graue), Roman (Mackensie) Manning, William “Wills” Manning (Ashley Jacobs), and Pierce Manning, and his sister, Gianna; niece, Lovely; and grandmother, Janice Manning. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Rachel Pahmeier; grandmother, Deborah Shakespeare; grandfathers, Francis “Frank” Shakespeare Jr. and Jay Manning; aunt, Debbie Manning; and his infant nephew, Leo Manning.
The family wishes to thank Marko’s primary physician, Dr. Megan Yanni, Dr. Deb McLeish and Dr. Albert Musa, as well as his team of nurses and caregivers, who we think of as “angels,” especially Lashay Edwards. Thanks also to the staff at MARC-Stoughton, Lavigne Transport, St. Coletta’s and National Seating and Mobility. Memorials may be made to the SMILES equine skills program or the WSBVI in Janesville.
