Obituary
STOUGHTON - Jenny Brunner, age 57, of Stoughton, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Stoughton Hospital. She was born on September 27, 1968, in Elgin, Ill., the daughter of Rodney Brunner and Bernice (Sommerfeldt) Murphy.
Everyone who walked alongside her in life proudly considered themselves part of “Team Jenny.” She was a radiant presence, a bright light in every life she touched, and she seemed to know everyone in town-despite the physical limitations she faced after a stroke in 1998.
A devoted sports fan, Jenny cheered faithfully for the Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks, a reflection of her Illinois roots. She was also deeply spiritual, never missing her daily 5 p.m. viewing of Joel Osteen. In her home, she displayed a mantra that guided her life: “What we are is God’s gift to us… What we become is our gift to God.”
Jenny believed wholeheartedly that everyone deserves the chance to fly, and her family finds comfort in knowing she is now free from all earthly burdens. Over the years, she was blessed with dozens of extraordinary caregivers, and her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who so generously shared their time, compassion, and talent in caring for her.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 12 noon on Sunday, December 14, 2025, with Pastor Todd McVey presiding. Burial will take place at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Sunday.
