Obituary
OREGON / DARIEN - Philip C. White, age 80, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
Phil was born on November 1, 1945, to Philip and Virginia White, in Flossmoor, Ill. He spent some of his early childhood years in Dickinson, Texas, but his later childhood and young adulthood were spent in Hinsdale, Ill. He attended Hinsdale Central High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Elmhurst College. He also served in Germany as a typist in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. He got an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Texas.
Many happy summers as a child and adult were spent in Lakeside, Mich., on the water sailing and boating, putting on 4th of July fireworks shows for the neighborhood for many years, and passing these loves on to his daughters. He loved tinkering, inventing, and fixing things, and was immensely proud of building and flying an Ultra-Lite airplane, and much of an RV-10 four-passenger plane and a gyrocopter. He was a devoted member of Christ Church of Oak Brook, and sang as a tenor in the Singing Men of Oak Brook and the Chancel choir, and also acted as an Elder.
Being a member of his local Rotary business chapter, teaching computer classes to adults, working as a business manager at Sky Ranch Christian youth camp in Van, Texas, as well as running an audiovisual business and working in data informatics at Budde Marketing Systems summarizes some of his career highlights. He loved spending time with family, friends, and pets, reading books and listening to or making music, and watching movies in surround-sound (much too loud).
Phil and Paula helped build an all-boys dormitory in Mississippi through their church. In later years, they also enjoyed traveling to Greece and other trips around the country. His dry sense of humor and quick wit will be missed. He had such a tender heart and was always kind.
Phil is survived by his wife, Paula; daughters, Adriane (Mike) Adkesson and Meredith (Ken) Winkelhake; grandchildren, Tyler, Carter, MacKenzie, Tate and Cora; brother, Tim (Sally) White; and sister, Cathy (John) O'Rourke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Virginia.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2026.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phil's memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or Agrace HospiceCare. A Special thank you to Becca Koslov, NP, at UW Geriatrics Clinic, BeeHive Memory Care staff, as well as the Agrace HospiceCare team. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
