Obituary
MADISON - Thomas Earl Luksich, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026. He was born on August 23, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Joseph and Marie (Hren) Luksich.
Thomas graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1952. He was united in marriage to Helena Kowalewsky Luksich on May 21, 1960, at St. Bernard Catholice Church in Madison, Wis. He was a proud member of the United States Navy, serving with Fighter Squadron VF-41 from February 17, 1953, to January 30, 1957. Following his military service, he worked for the United States Postal Service, faithfully counting down the days until his well-earned retirement in 1989.
An avid reader with a deep love of history, Thomas also thoroughly enjoyed watching football, both college and professional. His all-time favorite team was Notre Dame. His true passion, however, was tennis - both on and off the court - where he formed many lifelong friendships. Known for his dry sense of humor, when asked how he was doing, his usual response was “hanging on by a thread,” or his “well-known” advice, “Never say goodbye to an old person.” His wit, dedication and friendships will be fondly remembered.
Thomas is survived by his children, Terri Badger, Thomas (Cynthia) Luksich Jr. and Tony Luksich; grandchildren, Brianne, Cameron, Michael, Gabi, Anastasia, Rachel, Sebastian, Milena and Lily; and girlfriend, Gail Van Haren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helena Luksich; parents, Joseph and Marie Luksich; brother, Bill; sister, Mary Ann; son, Joseph; and granddaughter, Sydney.
A celebration of life will be held at WILSON’S BAR AND GRILL, 2144 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
