Obituary
ARLINGTON - Bill passed away on April 22, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on August 26, 1937, in Madison, Wis., to Wilfred "Bill" Wiedenbeck Sr. and Florence Wiedenbeck. After graduating from Madison East High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Corrine, on July 27, 1957, and completed an electrical apprenticeship.
Together, Bill and Corrine built a life in the Waunakee area, where they raised their family. Bill worked for several local electrical companies before founding Madison Metro Electric in 1972, specializing in commercial electrical work. One of his proudest professional accomplishments before retirement was wiring the Chamberlin Hall Fusion Lab on the UW-Madison campus.
In addition to his electrical career, Bill and Corrine were true partners in everything they built, working side by side on family ventures. They built and operated Willowbrook Country Stores, developed cottages on Lake Puckaway, and established Whispering Pines Apartments, along with several mini-warehouse facilities. For many years, Bill also raised registered Angus cattle as a hobby, earning numerous trophies for his prized beef.
Bill was an avid hunter, pursuing deer, black bear, buffalo, and elk. He enjoyed gardening especially growing tomatoes and took pride in making homemade salsa and tomato sauce, which he used in many of his favorite recipes. He was perhaps best known for his apple pie, a treat cherished by family and friends.
Bill will be remembered for his warm sense of humor, his enduring optimism, and his remarkable generosity toward those he loved.
A private gathering for immediate family will be held. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
