It is sad to see Lar pass away. We first met in 1971 and travelled to Arctic Canada as students and later to Hawaii together with our families. We often disagreed on politics but always got along. It is sad to see him pass.

I got to know Larry during his time at the University of Saskatchewan as a fellow employee/researcher at the Institute for Northern Studies on campus, during the 1970s. I can certainly agree with the positive descriptions and attributes of Larry's personality and interests in the touching write-up of his life. We kept in touch over the years via Christmas cards, and then via emails thanks to the marvels of developing technology! We also had a very enjoyable visit when Larry and Kim took a vacation to Saskatoon in later years. I am glad I got to know Larry (and Kim) during their time in Saskatchewan, and though in-person visits didn't happen again as time went on, given life's circumstances and distance, I will always have fond memories of working and socializing with him, and appreciate the connection we maintained over the years. He will be missed by many, and our thoughts and sympathies go out to Kim and family. Merv (and Fran) Hey, Saskatoon

I'm so sorry to hear Larry has left us. He was an active member of our union of State of Wisconsin employees, Wisconsin Professional Employees Council, local 4848 (American Federation of Teachers). We appreciate his contributions. And we will miss being with him.
