Obituary
BLACK EARTH - Sandra Kay “Sandy” Burdsall passed away on September 19, 2026, at the age of 75.
Sandy was born on September 26, 1950, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to Eileen and Clyde Knox. She spent her early years in Reedsville before her family moved to the Milwaukee area, where she graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School.
A high school job at a local florist sparked Sandy’s lifelong love of floral design. Flowers remained one of her great passions, and those who knew her knew that no arrangement was ever completely safe from a little “touching up” by Sandy.
Sandy attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later returned to complete her degree while working and raising her daughter, Melissa. During her career in association management, she developed an interest in parliamentary procedure and went on to become a Professional Registered Parliamentarian. She shared her expertise with numerous professional associations across the country.
In 1995, Sandy married Harold “Hal” Burdsall. Together they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and around the world and renovating the old farmhouse that became a home Sandy dearly loved. Farm life also led to another memorable pursuit: riding and showing her Tennessee Walking Mule, “Tucker,” at local and state shows and participating in presentations at the Midwest Horse Fair.
Sandy will be remembered for her determination, curiosity, love of flowers and travel, and the unmistakable touch she brought to everything she did.
She is survived by her husband, Hal; daughter, Melissa; stepson, Adam and his wife, Jessica; stepdaughter, Janna “Babe” and her husband, Matthew; five grandchildren, Samantha, Nolan, Alyssa, Mason and Tyler; and her brother, Tom Knox.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
A celebration of life honoring Sandy will be announced at a later date.
