STOUGHTON - Ronald Lee “Ron” Furseth, age 93, of Stoughton, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Ron was born on March 18, 1933, in Stoughton, the son of Valdemar and Phyllis (Larson) Furseth. He graduated from Stoughton High School in 1951. In 1953, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Barbara Gjermo. Together they raised two children, Gary and Judy.
In 1954, he and his father established Furseth Heating Inc., and continued in business for over 62 years. He was active in the community and was a former member of the Stoughton Jaycees, Stoughton Lions Club, Stoughton Chamber of Commerce, Stoughton Business Development Committee, Dunkirk Town Board for 16 years, West Koshkonong Lutheran Church, and Stoughton Country Club past president as well as a member for over 50 years. In 1976, he and Barb were honored to be chosen as Syttende Mai King and Queen.
Ron enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers and White Sox and golfing with his friends. He loved antiquing and refinishing antiques. He also had a booth at the Stoughton Antique Mall.
Ron is survived by his wife, Barbara; and children, Gary Furseth and Judy (Mike Anderson) Sherven. He was so proud to be “Bumpa” to grandson, Erik Sherven, and father-in-law to Terry Sherven; and he was blessed with two bonus granddaughters, Brooke (Mike) San Felippo (1975) and Lauren Anderson (2018). He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Furseth.
A funeral service will be held at WEST KOSHKONONG LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1911 Koshkonong Road, Stoughton, at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, with Pastor Eric Bakken and Pastor Paula Geister-Jones concelebrating. Burial will take place at West Koshkonong Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St, Stoughton, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and also at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
