Obituary

MADISON - Peter A. Slepekis, age 80, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born in Sheboygan, Wis., the son of Clemens and Lucille (Batt) Slepekis.

Peter graduated from Madison East High School in 1965. He began his lifelong career at F.D. Means-Aramark, where he was well respected for his hard work and excellent attendance before retiring after 35 years. Peter always enjoyed sports and movies, maintaining his incredible memory for details throughout his life. He also loved spending time with family and friends and was devoted to caring for his mother at home for many years. Recently, Peter rekindled his passion for music, and enjoyed playing his new digital piano. As an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Peter found a great sense of belonging there and purpose in ushering during Sunday Mass. He was thoughtful, kind and generous - a big man with a big heart.

Peter is survived by his brother, Jerome Slepekis; his sister, JoAnne Hokanson; many beloved nieces and nephews and their spouses, Leah (David), Julia, Claire and Anne Fluecke; Lindsay, Christopher, Peyton, and Lucy Slepekis; Alex (Maria) Hokanson and their daughter, Georgia; Angela Hokanson and her daughter, Veronica Schaps; and cousins, Jim Slapikes, Alice Timm, Janet Murray and MaryAnn Schuman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemens and Lucille; and his brothers, John and Mike Slepekis.

A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026. A visitation will also be held at CATHEDRAL OF ST. Peter was a great man. He was very kind, considerate, and thoughtful. He was a great friend. We shared many good times together. I came to know him many years ago thru my friendship with his brother mike. W. Means for years. Many times peter asked for my advice and I helped him the best I could. I became closer to him after mike's passing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace my friend.

To Jerry and JoAnne I send my deepest sympathy. Pete was a super good man and a great friend. I met Pete many years ago working at F.W. Means. He was a hard worker and a very kind man. I visited him on the last Wednesday and was able to give him one last hug which I am grateful for. Rest in peace our wonderful friend. And peace to Jerry and JoAnne and Pete's family. Sincerely, Shirley Gulvik
