Obituary
MADISON - Judith A. Riddle, age 84, of Madison, passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Oak Park Place Autumn Lane. She was born on June 29, 1942, in Madison, daughter of Joseph and Edna (Peterson) Matush.
Judy graduated from Madison East High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard, on June 30, 1962, in Madison. She worked for the Madison Metropolitan School District as a secretary for 30 plus years.
Judy enjoyed drawing in a variety of mediums, including graphite pencils, colored pencils, and pastels. During her career as a school secretary, she participated in faculty and student theater productions. She also loved cooking and trying new recipes, hosting rotating themed dinner parties with her neighbors, dancing (country line, ballroom, square, and polka), reading every moment she could, and participating in book clubs. Judy took great pride in tending her many immaculate, weed-free flower beds and cherished babysitting her grandchildren and attending the many activities and events they participated in throughout Madison and Minnesota.
Judy is survived by her son, Scott (Marcia) Riddle; daughter, Pam (John Hulbert) Riddle; three granddaughters, Anne (Hunter Yanke) Perry, Jessica (Brandon) Carnahan and Andrea Hulbert; grandson, Nate Hulbert; and great-grandchildren, Jackson Perry and Maisie Carnahan. She is further survived by her sisters, Nancy Ryan and Sue (Gary) Olson; and sisters-in-law, Jinny Matush and Wally Matush. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Dick, Ed and Thomas (Pete) Matush; and brother-in-law, Ted Ryan.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Friday, October 9, 2026. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
